Add Some Shine!
Hello, crafty friends! Marie here again from MARIE NICOLE DESIGNS, and I have a quick post showing some tips on how to use Nuvo’s Gilding Flakes.
These flakes are basically thin, delicate flakes of shine. They come in gold, silver, and copper. All you need to do to apply them is to have a sticky surface to add them to, and then burnish them down so they stay.
I have a video here with all the hands-on details for you.
Quick Application Tips
Like I mentioned above and in the video, once you have a sticky surface, you can simply apply the Gilding Flakes and then gently rub them onto your surface to ensure they stick. Here are some adhesives you can use them with:
- Double sided adhesive- add the adhesive to cardstock, and then die cut. Remove the backing paper from the die, and add your gilding flakes.
- Liquid adhesive- add some liquid adhesive, either freehand or over a stencil. Allow several minutes for the glue to get tacky, but not dry fully. Then, add the flakes gently. Allow glue to completely dry and then rub off the extra flakes.
- Tape runner adhesive- this technique is great for adding stripes! Add some tape runner adhesive, then add the Gilding Flakes over the top. Burnish flakes into the adhesive to be sure they stay.
- Foam Adhesive- yes! You can add Flakes over foam adhesive. Use squares to create a pattern, or long strips to create dimensional stripes.
Not Just For Papercrafts!
Gilding flakes are the perfect addition to your papercrafts, but they can also be applied to other things! Like mentioned, you only need something for them to adhere to. You can brush liquid adhesive onto a piece of home decor, like a wood cutout of a phrase or word, and gild it with these Gilding Flakes. You could also gild picture frames or other pieces that need a bit of sprucing up. So many options!
I hope you enjoyed taking a look at a few ideas for these Gilding Flakes. So easy to use, and who doesn’t need more shine?
Until next time,
